Work books open and ready to learn

Day three of our home school experience and all is going good so far. Not as perfect as days 1 and 2 but still good. Here the children are sitting at there desks. Working on there school work. I thought I take a picture to remember that they can sit still sometimes.

First Day of School

It was 8:00 a.m. Tuesday Morning and all the children were dressed, washed, eaten and ready for the first day of school. I had planned to start school at 9:00 a.m. but to the children that was to late. So we began at 8:00. We started with Oh Canada, Prayer, Calendar, and then moved into Math, English, and Science. The children eat up everything I had to offer them. They even helped each other with there work. The picture above is Bradley (6) and Greg (7) helping each other with there math. Lets hope this continues through the whole year!

Helping Hands

This afternoon the children and myself tried to finish our back yard. For all of you that have never seen our back yard it was a huge mountain of dirt. Now this is great if you are a 6 or 7 year old boy, but for myself it was quite an eye sore. So I enrolled all of my willing and able children to help Mom level out the mountain. After 5 hours and many water breaks I can proudly say "We did it!" We have an almost flatten the back yard. Next step is the sod. Who knows our back yard might be ready for the late September warm spell to enjoy school outside.

Five More Sleeps

If you are a parent of young children you have probably hear this saying before. "Only so many sleeps until such and such happens." This is usually how the children keep track for time until an important event happens. But not today! I am the one who is counting sleeps. Only 5 more sleeps until the start of school.
This year for the back to school I will not be packing lunches, labeling pencil crayons, gym shorts and running shoes. I will not be running around town to find Uhu glue (the only kind approved for public schools in our area). I will be taking a more relaxed approach. This year my children will be taught from home. I am looking forward to learning along side my children. Watch them grow to who God has created them to become.
